Is it always really better to have a plan, like plan every single thing out early on in life

I would like to say Both!

Because, in the end all the plans will obviously fail, therefore you will need to be more comfortable improvising or changing the directions.

But

if you only improvise without any such plan,

you will be directionless and get lost easily.

So always Plan

But

Always plan on the plan, failing at some point!
